The annual Prizegiving Ceremony was held in Fatima Hall on Monday 21st of May. It was a great occasion where students were rewarded for their work both academic, school participation and effort, attendance and sporting achievements. There were many awards given out to the students. Among them were: Student of the year: Ailbhe Dowling; Academic Excellence: Suzie Leonard and Emma Kristiansen; The Aoife King Prize for music: Emma Maguire; Student of the Class Awards: 1 Emerald: Naoise O’Neill, 1 Opal: Grace McManus, 1 Sapphire: Kirsty Dunne, 2 Emerald: Catherine Moyseyeva, 2 Opal: Ellen Madden, 2 Sapphire: Morgan Elliott, 3 Emerald: Julia Simko, 3 Opal: Megan Byrne, 3 Sapphire: Siofra O’Leary, 5 Ruby: Keelin O’Dwyer, 5 Pearl: Deirdre McGrane, 5 Diamond: Liadh Cronin, 6 Ruby: Aoibhe Drennan, 6 Pearl: Sorcha Ffrench and 6 Diamond: Rhian Drennan. The DCW Athletes of the year are Saoirse O’Reilly (Senior) and Ellen Savage (Junior). The leadership team of the school were awarded – prefects, ember leaders and School Council. The school has so many students deserving of awards and it was a great day in which they were all honoured. Well done to all.
6TH YEAR GRADUATION
The 6th years had their Graduation Mass and reception on Tuesday night 22nd May. It was a beautiful occasion for the students, their families and the school staff with prayer and beautiful singing from the 6th year music students and the Liturgical Choir. A reception was held in Fatima Hall following the mass with music from the School Chamber Orchestra and then the girls headed on out for the night. Thanks to all involved in this very special and memorable graduation ceremony.
HEAD GIRL AND DEPUTY HEAD FOR 2018/2019
Congratulations to Caoimhe O’Neill and Ciara Fagan who have been announced as our incoming Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl. We wish them all the very best in their new roles.
Transition Year came to an end with Graduation Night on the evening of Thursday 24th May. It has been an 'action packed' busy year for all students. The girls have been excellent; a very enthusiastic and co-operative group to work with. Many thanks to their hardworking co-ordinator Ms Goff who organised a very successful and structured programme for the students. We wish the girls every success for the future as they advance into 5th Year. Special congratulations goes to Hannah Whelan who won the ‘Spirit of TY Students 2018’.
3RD YEAR TRIP TO THE ZOO
3rd years will be taking a well deserved break from their hard work and study to take a trip to Dublin Zoo on Thursday 31st of May. We hope they have a lovely fun day and enjoy the break from their studies.
WELCOME TO SAM MAGUIRE
DCW was delighted to welcome the ‘Sam Maguire’ to the school where all the students got a chance to be photographed with the cup. Hopefully Wicklow will see more of Sam in the future!
BUSINESS STUDIES FAIR
The second year business studies class put on a ‘Business Fair’ on Friday 25th of May. The girls were busy selling their fantastic homemade products which they developed as part of ‘Enterprise’ for their Business Studies CBA. Well done to all!
TY DAY OUT
On Monday 21st May the Transition Year students headed off for their annual day out to mark the end of Transition Year. This year they went to Dundrum for the day and the girls really enjoyed their day.
Summer exams begin for all 1st, 2nd and 5th year students on the week of Monday 28th May. Best of luck to all students.
The State exams will begin for all 3rd and 6th year students on Wednesday 6th of June. We would like to wish all the girls the very best of luck.
