Senior Cycle
The Leaving Certificate is a two-year programme that aims to provide learners with a broad, balanced education while also offering some specialisation towards a particular career option. Students following the Leaving Certificate programme are required to study at least five subjects. In general, students take seven subjects for examination.
Each subject is assessed by an external examination paper at the end of the two-year programme of study. Some subjects are also assessed by additional assessment methods including oral and aural examinations, practical examinations and assessment of practical coursework.
A new grading system will apply for all Leaving Cert subjects from 2017. Please follow the link to access additional infomation on this system: New Grading System
In Transition Year students are given the opportunity to choose what subjects they would like to do for their Leaving Cert. As much as possible, the school attempts to facilitate these choices. The variety and range of subjects varies from year to year. Below is a list of the subjects that may be offered to students - there is no guarantee that all of these subjects will be offered to students.
